Lab Village 6
Tourism, Culture
and Creative Industries
The research and development project “Lab Village – Tourism, Culture and Creative Industries,” with a participatory and multidisciplinary approach, is led by a team of professors and researchers specializing in innovation, creative industries, and tourism from Ca’ Foscari University of Venice, which heads Spoke 6 within the activities of iNest.
The project is structured as a widespread network of laboratories, active in Veneto, Friuli Venezia Giulia, and the autonomous provinces of Trento and Bolzano, with the goal of designing and testing “cultural prototypes”: new products and services aimed at promoting sustainable cultural tourism.
PROJECT TEAM
Professor Fabrizio Panozzo, Head of Spoke 6
Professor Maurizio Busacca, Project Manager
Valeria Bruzzi, Project Development research fellow
Project’s key players
The main participants in the Lab Village project’s laboratory experiments are artists and creatives, businesses and tourism operators from the involved regions, institutions, local authorities, and citizens, all invited to interact and collaborate within a widespread network of laboratories.
The goal is to develop narratives and new ways of experiencing the regions and tourist destinations through innovative cultural products, capable of establishing themselves in the tourism market and renewing it.

ASSOCIATIONS

Pro Loco of Camporovere, Canove, Cesuna, Mezzaselva, Roana, and Treschè Conca
Six bell towers, six hamlets, and six Pro Loco associations. A unique heritage of volunteerism and local promotion, with dozens of initiatives of tourist, recreational, sports, and cultural interest. The contacted Pro Loco associations provided valuable information about some popular traditions linked to rural life, which are still strongly felt among the population today.
Special thanks go to Annalisa Stella of the Pro Loco of Treschè Conca and Matteo Stefani of the Pro Loco of Roana.

CAI Thiene Section – CAI Arsiero Subsection – Roccia 4 Gatti Group
The Thiene CAI (president Pier Lucian Sandonà) has, in the Arsiero subsection (president Mauro Genero), one of the most lively and active groups. Their presence in the area, together with that of the Roccia 4 Gatti Group (Mario Schiro), has helped to consolidate and spread mountaineering culture, with particular reference to sport climbing practices.
The rich system of routes and crags in the area has increasingly taken on significant social and economic importance. Thanks to this experience, several young people have trained and started professional careers as Alpine Guides. They participated in the working group of the “Mountain” pilot action as a cultural reference point in the field of mountains and mountaineering.
PROFESSIONALS AND BUSINESSES
The structure of the workshops encouraged exchange and dialogue among participants with different roles and skills. In this spirit, contributions not directly connected to the tourism sector were also included.
Giovanni Artuso
An expert in development cooperation, participated by fostering and nurturing the links between the local and international dimensions through his interventions.
Valeria Rigon
Management Engineer, introduced some methods and exercises drawn from her professional experience in managing complex processes and change management.
Damiano Zanocco
A Forest Ranger of the Municipality of Lavarone. From the very beginning, he believed in the promotion of the Avez del Prinzep. He was interviewed as part of the “Mountain” pilot action.
Roberta Cuel
Dr. Roberta Cuel from the Department of Economics and Management at the University of Trento, a deep connoisseur of the Folgaria, Lavarone, and Luserna plateau area, provided the first description of the context, helping to outline the key elements.
Giovanni Costantini – Anima/Avez Del Prinzep Project
From the wood of the monumental tree in the forests of Lavarone, which fell in 2017, four string instruments were created. These now form a quartet, made to give new life to this fir tree so important to the community, and now its voice resonates through concerts and performances. The artistic director of the Anima/Avez del Prinzep project is Maestro Giovanni Costantini, who was interviewed as part of the “Mountain” pilot action.
TOURISM SERVICE PROVIDERS
Tonezza Del Cimone
Ristorante Trattoria Al Cacciatore
The Trattoria Al Cacciatore restaurant is rooted in the simplicity of a long culinary and family tradition. With the renovation of the venue in 2018, brothers Andrea and Daniele Borgo embarked on a renewal journey focused on a rich wine selection and intertwined with cultural and educational initiatives. The welcoming atmosphere makes the space a gathering place open to the community, the ideal setting to host the ideas and experiments developed by participants in “Residenti in residenza,” one of the pilot actions of the Lab Village – Tourism, Culture, and Creative Industries project.
Tonezza Del Cimone
Azienda Agricola Mibi / Azienda Agricola Elisabetta Granara
Two recently established agricultural businesses took part in the Tonezza del Cimone working group. Both are led by women who are not originally from the area - the so-called “foreste” (outsiders). Azienda Agricola Mibi, dedicated to honey and alpaca wool production, and Azienda Agricola Granara Elisabetta, which focuses on floral cultivation and artistic creation, have provided a fresh perspective on village life, helping to redefine the territorial vision and approach to tourism.
Camporovere
Casa Tanzerloch Cultural Refuge
Once the site of a small workshop, Casa Tanzerloch is not just a tavern with a kitchen but also a true container of stories ranging from craftsmanship to the arts. In the hamlet of Camporovere, traditional wood-working techniques are still practiced.
Malga Zovetto / Frigo Stöff Workshop in Canove
Claudio Frigo Stöff
Two families from the same lineage are engaged in cheese production and the management of mountain pastures. Their work involves not only ancient gestures and tools but also a modern awareness of practicing agriculture today, with constant attention to production quality and the deeper meaning of this life choice.
X Mountain / Montagna 360°
Francesco Canale and Diego Dellai, Alpine Guides
The profession of Alpine Guide is officially recognized as an intellectual profession and serves as a bridge between the mountains and their visitors. For this reason, their involvement in the process was considered essential. Particularly interesting is the perspective of those who, despite an impressive mountaineering and exploration background, choose to live in a mid-mountain area lacking the classic attractions of the more renowned Alpine and Dolomite destinations.
